The model 3095 is approximately the size of a disposable lighter. The modem is short, combines integrated cable plugs directly into a USB port on the computer and the other end of the modem to a telephone connection via a standard telephone cable. 1. I bought this Zoom modem to the AT & T 3G card in my Dell XPS laptop was not in a very rural part of Alabama, where I live and work. The AT & T store told me later that they have no towers in my area. The laptop card was very slow and not reliable to activate off every few seconds, and forever under “search for network”.
Zoom This product is about three times faster connection to the Internet as the AT & T 3G card and the zoom software was easy to install. Unfortunately, my MSN service supports the zoom function that the user to answer calls while online allows. Still, I recommend this product zoom if you are not to use with dial-up.

  2. We bought the 3095 fax / modem based on the reviews and features. As the Microsoft Fax service program from its Vista Home editions, we just wanted a Vista-compatible product with fax software included, which has the 3095th . . technical.

After the installation of its Communicate!, we discovered it was only a 30-day trial. I called customer service and was told the program costs $ 78, almost double the modem price. want is to buy this for me and is said Office Word really costs extra. If Zoom is advertising included software, it should be honest and know that customers that there is a trial version. Vista users would be better served if they are looking elsewhere do not already have fax software installed.

  3. I’m using this on two different computers Win XP. I have sent and received faxes on a Vonage (VoIP) phone and a regular telework. line. No special preferences were necessary. I am using the Windows tool faxing (printer) that is part of XP.

BTW – I chose to only install the modem driver and not the optional software enables that install “call waiting” to answer calls when they are elected into the Internet.

When I used it for a dial-up Internet connection, they got a 44kpbs connection right away. . . that was great for the place from which I had dial-up.

When the line opens rings in my place, a little box to say, click here to order this call when he to answer a fax. (Sorry, no caller ID info is …), but it does receive faxes properly.

Limitation I’ve discovered. . . If a receiving fax machine is an answering machine, the “Send a fax * push,” says. . . You can not send it that way very easily. It is better for the person to call to their fax machine and then press the Send / Receive button to go to start for the fax. Then fax is fine.

Also, I hoped that my Dell would find all-in-one-942, the external modem and enable my AIO to send faxes, how to do it should. So far I have not been able to find the AIO to this modem and turn on the AIO’s fax function to receive. . . I will keep trying. (I am a “no modem” message from the recognized AIO).

    For more information:
The two lights are OH (Off Hook) and data flash (such as sending / receiving data)
The modem has no speaker installed. Play It uses the computer’s speaker to the classic modem. beeps
    Sending faxes is still.
The box also contained a two-wire telephone cable.

  4. I have this for someone who purchased a MacBook Pro, but is still on dial-up. (Latest model MacBooks do not have internal modems.) It was literally plug and play. A big relief! Not even need to load any software. It’s been a few weeks, and there were no problems have been online.

A side note: It is to be in the proper USB port compared to a USB hub not go as the hub, is to have enough energy for them.

  5. Watch out! The box says that the modem works with Vista. However, Vista Home Premium does not come with fax software. The fax software that comes on a CD with the modem, Communicate! does> not

Customer Support Zoom confirmed that Communicate! does not work under Vista 64.

At least one of the shareware ($ 20 after 30-day trial version) and people that this modem does not work well on receiving faxes.
