I have both the rock band 2 Box-Set-guitar (black) and the stand-alone guitar. It seems there may be some discrepancies between the different guitars as documented by reviewers here on Amazon, but here is my experience:
First, the stand-alone almost identical in material, weight , shelf life was and is the only visible difference is that the original is glossy black and the stand-alone traditional “Sunburst” design, not quite as shiny. Both look good to me.
The neck fret buttons are equally clicky on my black list and stand-alone guitars and response times seem to be the same.
< , br /> The main differences are in the Strum Bar and overdrive sensor:
* The Strum Bar has a very quiet click to view it, much quieter than the original black guitar and feels a bit closer which I like a lot.
* The overdrive sensor is much improved, you expose your Overdrive immediately without delay. I find that if I level while playing the guitar, I have no problems with setting it by accident but it would be very easy to do comply. I prefer the new sensitivity to the original guitar.
As real-life guitarist with several instruments, I find that the differences give each peripheral has its own “personality,” and I not on the others but, I just change constantly and my guitar to the next game so easy for the quirks of the individual have, just like a real instrument.
I have no experience with guitar peripherals from other manufacturers (Mad Catz, Niko). I bought this guitar because of its high ratings and because the official guitar look better than off-brand guitars. I was not disappointed.

I bought the Wii Rock Band 2 guitar / drums / mic / game kit from Amazon and the standalone RB2 guitar (for bass). I took the two guitars would be the same, but there are a few differences.
The first and most important is the goal of the kit is black & white guitar, while the stand is sunburst. No big deal, actually I’m kind of like the variety.
The second difference is that you can not tell until you start playing is that the frets (not the Strum Bar click) on the standalone guitar while the guitar not click kit. I do not think that this in turn impact on the ease of playing this guitar, but once he feels the non-clicking kit guitar for a few hours, switching to this one is kind of funny, and it feels * like you have a little work harder to take the keys. Probably just my imagination but, as my score seems not to be concerned with whom I have guitar, but it might bug some people.
Note also that I may have just one bad guitar Perhaps it is not to click.

He boasted better response times, easily overdrives, yadda yadda. How does it perform? It is definitely more accurate than the original guitar, but I think it’s really picky, if it does not overdrive your movements or accepted. I literally do not move or press a button and it went into overdrive! It is better, but it is still annoying.

I bought this for a second guitar for use with Beatles Rock Band have and it works great. The Auto Sync function works for me. Much easier to do as a guide. Otherwise works just like my rock band 1 guitar that I use. Performs exactly as expected. I recommend it.

This is a great product, but it did not last me much longer than the 60 days warranty. Measured by the sheer volume of posts in the support forum did not last much longer, many other people not as 60 days. The guitar is no longer synchronized with the Wii. He is dead and has no flashing lights.
