Valusoft / SCS has created a great series in 18 Wheels of Steel. They have kept the price constistantly [. . . ]) And have made great products. The franchise has been a great 18WoS driving simulator and business sim, and as fairly stable (without convoy).
Unfortunately, it seems, as is the 18WoS series on an outdated and repetitive. The cities must live! Going last in the cities that seem so familiar and seeing no one come on foot or with people from shops and office buildings simply can not no longer there. The traffic lights even look the same. Turning lanes would be a nice addition, as an accident is just waiting to happen, plus, if you work for a clear path bends left to wait, you are constantly honked. Please, no more cardboard buildings.
In the latest version of Valusoft / SCS American Long Haul has the same graphics as well as Haulin the same premise. You start with a truck and drag various types of cargo through the United States, Canada and Mexico now (only a few cities). Mexico was added, but it was previously in 18WoS: Pedal to the medal only. The only difference in 18WoS: ALH is that you are over the load and its supply some shortcuts. There are a couple of large truck stops but for me it’s not a truck stop, if you can not get out of your truck, fill the tank, go to the bathroom, talk to other drivers, or relax in the restaurant. You can be your own boss and hire other drivers as well as in Haulin. I think the American Long Haul small additions could very well who was a patch for Haulin.
When I saw it on the website of SCS, I was looking forward to a new chapter in the Series 18WoS but when I played the demo, it’s just like Haulin. I did not expect American Long Haul are almost the same as Haulin. Very disappointing!
Unfortunately, the graphics are old and the game itself starts to get stale. If you travel the highways, there are barren areas and areas that you wish were infertile. The same setup for the cities back in American Long Haul. What this means is that the cities of empty people, the lights are strangely the same in every city are the buildings and the landscape gently and look like pop-up books or blocks made of cardboard. The only pleasant scenery, the water (water). What is inexusable are the highways and roads in the United States, Mexico and Canada. The developers should have at least done their homework, as the cities are, like the fixed routes to get to them. I was hoping for the actual suspension bridges that lead to New York City, and others. What is going to the tunnel from Manhattan to New Jersey? The Delaware River Bridge the Gap, if you drive on Interstate 80 through New Jersey? I’m not talking only of the New York / New Jersey area, I am speaking for the whole area that is included in 18WoS: American Long Haul. With games are on DVD’s you can not tell me that it is not produced enough space on a DVD. If the budget was too tight maybe split into multiple extensions? With Google Earth you can not, when to travel anywhere in the United States and photograph. I also wonder that thoughout the game, how come there is absolutely no truck stops everywhere. At truck stops, you can relax, a meal (all, come on you know the words …. YMCA, gonna stay at the YMCA could not otherwise …. Sorry
, maybe wash your rig, buy or accessories as well (yes, I watched the History Channel Modern Marvels: Truck Stops). At some weigh stations when the wrong turn to the parking lot before you make “get weighed, you get a ticket, it is also funny to see no one crew of the weigh stations. You can not even through the building, the windows look. What I ‘ m implies that the realism factor is certainly gone down. The first pair from the 18WoS series is to understand, and I have been amazed as to how 18WoS for the first time and aged in a surprising hit as a driving simulation, and business-SIM card. If the cities are more realistic instead of empty of any human activity, and to achieve the way and was more accurate from the cities, I think I would not mind paying extra if the coompany raised the price of [...] With today’s computers (Dual Core, Quad Core) and graphics cards, SCS / Valusoft can certainly 18WoS together a game that certainly deep and can wow people. read some posts where the franchise was first started 18WoS shown that it was a surprise and made even better with each new version (again not counting Convoy).
I have only played the demo (AML and have when I bought Big Rigs City) for a few minutes, because, as I played seemed Haulin all over again. I enjoy Haulin makes me go even though the graphics blahhhh. If you feel the same way, stick with Haulin because if you buy American Long Haul, his 99th 9999999% the same and yes, if you do not own American Long Haul Haulin then you would be getting.
It would be nice if the next title in the series live 18WoS cities: people, more realistic buildings, bridges, traffic would bring construction, accidents, and toll bridges. Maybe the developers can add car washes, and realistic gas and service stations. Can I get out of my car, my own gas pump? Can I use the oil and engine? Check my tires? Can I have a snack or a drink? “Can I tell the mechanic (depending on time of day to check the engine)? replace the tires, what truck stops, what, after a long delivery times, I can at a motel or Hotel (go again always out of my truck to rest) and? Talk to other truck drivers in the lobby? Talk to other truck drivers in the Truck Stop? When I was in Las Vegas, I can actually hold in the casino? If my house is near, I can go home and rest? It would be nice if I had to have a reason to work as a truck driver or my own business. If I had a house somewhere outlined in the cities or suburbs-I accounts for pay have. If I have a company, it looks even on other things than just bus drivers and buy their rigs to do. How about building an office complete with a truck garden? Take on more than one computer opponent. Finally, when did you deliver your charge and there is no one who is nice to have, with the exception. It would be a truck and deliver the goods in the warehouse or place of business that you are transferring to. When you put cars, you should be able, the cars from your followers go and put them in the dealers lot. Can you invoices show / Receipt that you achieved your goal. It strangely is shedding load and all that a SIDD disappears when you press “T” and you get the money automatically into your bank account . All companies are completely deserted and are no other trucks for sale, but.
It is time to polish up the graphics, the most remote places in North America runs through. Let it become what the franchise Simcity was known for —- Neverending and without “clear goals.” You just have to balance your budget. The game could be terminated if you decide to retire, stealing from the company and getting caught, get arrested and can not pay the court costs and fines and / or jail sentence or cause such a terrible accident that your license is taken away forever. A good lesson in the game would be if you in a restaurant / bar on your night off or your down time and to drink a lot, the police will catch you and determine whether you were under the influence, arrest you, and that means game over. A realistic police (an intelligent AI) would be fantastic. throwing a wrench in this game, would be the TOP TRUCKING COOMPANY that the requirements of a “his” customers, while balancing a budget. When you retire, you can select the option to purchase an industry or a commercial business that carriers do business with, so you still a part of the action if you make “must decide a break.” It would be great to have control over creating your own warehouse to store, carry and what you actually have the staff and himself to remove the charge. The cities in Long Haul, and the former 18WoS are so stale that it looks like nobody lives in these cities seems to be. All you see are cars and trucks. The wow-factor in this game and hopefully this will not be the last is, to put it on a DVD (s) released and again this game as a model of beauty. I think (and I do not speak for all) people are willing to shell out a bit more, if this game, the company and franchise go a step or two, and the trophy Tycoon.
One option would be interesting for multiplayer use. The people can choose, a trucker, own, drive a truck dealer, cars , a police official, a customs official (goods from abroad will come and in your warehouse to ship), own / build resturants, car washes, gas stations, industries, tools ect for trucks (pipes / hoses for gasoline trailer. You are a could gasoline-trailer on either the refinery and gas companies drive or the actual gas station and fill the gas tank stations for its customers.
I realized that the modest system requirements have the franchise to 18WoS to bring a great level of playability and realism. I think it is time to change the system completely and, as a simulation and a Tycoon game can be created. Today’s computers and computer components and their prices can to reach the game to another level. I would like to see this game need dual-core processors and at least an Nvidia 8800 or ATI X1950 or better graphics card. Most systems, if not all of them are now at least dual-core systems.
To Who is never the games 18WoS’s then played the game for you. For those who own 18WoS: Haulin, it’s pretty much the same game, and you may feel disappointed, and think, “Hey, I have this in Haulin.” ‘If you play the demo. I love the series and hope 18WoS new content added.

Probably there are two kinds of people out there interested in this game: people, one of the 18 wheels series and people who have not played.
If you have played these games, skip down a bit.
If you do not, what kind of simulations to you depending on this game can give you hours of enjoyment or boredom.
The fundamental turning point of the game is, as expected, you get some money, an entry-level rig and a lack of awareness. Your goal is to haul loads to pack up and drive them in the U.S. and to some extent Canada and Mexico. As you drag loads, you will make more money for upgrades for your rig (or a whole new rig) and you will gain a good reputation. Your success and reputation lead to rent your ability to expand to other drivers and your truck empire.
To counter your success, you have to deal with long (and in some cases boring) hauls, the police (verification speed, driving general rules, etc), and to a certain degree of competition from your fellow truckers. It is also traffic on the roads, including other trucks. There used to be a bug in older versions that transport dangerous (cars would be made only by chance on the brakes, as they tried to cause an accident), but the traffic is gone and even your turn signal yield. But to offset this, the developers decided to throw in something else to cause pain. If you as much as a customs stop on the line at a red light, you will be a run at a red light (a fine of up to $ 9,000 mark in the game!). This, and the people drive in obvious violation of the law (well turn so, at least in the states I’ve driven), where they make the right over one or more lanes (ie, collision with you and you have trouble with the law again) may mean you will give out a lot to pay for injuries. Of course the silver lining on the horizon is that you really only pay for the injury, if you are passable within a specified distance from a parked police car over.
The graphics, but dated. The graphics engine is not shown on a video games awards show anytime soon. The cities will have several indications of its attractions and the like, but there is no real attempt to map out the city in anyway. The cities are only small hubs, where to find services and access to loads of companies would. That is, does it, what to do and needs the rigs themselves are quite detailed. There are several cameras, you use your rig check-out while driving plus a large top-down Cam, the forth in the games of the series for a while, and may for good reason. . . Nothing is better with that line up and hitch a trailer. Even so, the camera can be limited (you can shrink only so far) and with a sufficiently long (double-) trailer, you can not really see about halfway down the second trailer. You must leave at the mirrors and other camera angles to get this right.
The ride is okay, but has the same limitations as any other racing game. Ideally, you have a wheel or use the joystick (or gamepad) want. I do not have this so I have the keyboard. The keyboard works, but can sometimes be difficult to drive in the absence of a way to “finesse” is about and the like. However, you are largely just more worried about from point A to point B. There are short cuts in places but you are largely restricted to a few set on highways from town to get to town. Still, you’ve got your speed (bull to manage), your fuel (only so many stations), and your route (for those short, to see cuts), there are things that keep you busy even on a long distance. < br />
In total, the game can be fun, but it is a very special fun. I personally like Business Sims and I love the idea of running and managing logistics and truck-loads only in the Americas. If you have a quick game or a complex search for economic sim, this is not the right game for you. But if you wanted to join some of the plant and the journey through the land belt carry loads, this is the game for you. And it also helps that the price is pretty low. This version rolls substantially all of the various updates and changes made during the 18 wheels series, so you always have the best version of the simulation (with the business side as well as the rigs and some bug fixes).

Previous 18 Wheels holder (start here)
For those of you that have tried a game 18 wheels before you should drill through they know now. The games are more of a secondary evolution than a revolution, how do you go from game to game. At this point, although in the series, you get all the extensions that down the pike (the more complicated business sim came the update to the traffic problem, the extended map with all of North America, etc.). At the same time if you Haulin ‘, you probably have most of them have anyway.
So, if you have not updated your original 18 wheels (across America?) Game you should maybe just on this sucker (it’s nice and cheap anyway) and get up to date.
If you have Haulin or are like me and got every version in the series so far , this can not avoid the financial framework for you, not at all. Nevertheless, it appears the map to be a bit different and I noticed at least one thing that has been fixed (that transport bug … where the only cars on the brakes all the time) and, as I mentioned earlier, it uses dirt cheap (at least for the moment @ 9 99), it might be worth the pick-up, only some of whom received minor improvements. It’s your money, so you know the best approach. Is
All in all, I like the series, despite its problems. I, like many other fans, Do you think this graphics upgrade and some more complex aspects of the business part (and perhaps a pilot car for those times when you really want not just to do cross-country again). Maybe one day. . .

My grandson says that this is the best game of all time. I scored BIG with him if I gave him the Long Haul game for his birthday. Super Great! A must have for all boys.

This game is so fun. The graphics are great, the sound effects are awesome, and overall it is a very realistic experience. I would definitely recommend the purchase of a steering wheel controller with this (very difficult to play without one). I would recommend this game to everyone!

I like this game much better than all previous versions. I just wish they do not allow you to start in a truck with a dog.
The cops are “Johnny-on-the-spot” Catch me forget my headlight wipers, and my occasional smashing of a trail of cars that come before me in my impatience to deliver my load.
The graphics are great, only ensures that your video drivers are current. Most questions are in the drivers linked.
I do not recommend the patch if you do not need it. I installed it and now my bike actions during the game is strange.
