5 Responses to “Doom 3”

  1. I, like so many others, was an original Doom 1 & 2 customers back in the “Download of the local BBS ‘days. I could not wait for Doom 3, after learning about it a few months back.

Now that there a few days (I bought it in the morning it was released) were here is the deal:

1 The engine is incredible. The sound and graphics are top notch, as is the entire environment, physics, etc., show the guys at id always, like all other games are finished. Each will now be copied for the next five years to id does it again. However, it is far more than we told to have a pig. This is a game that you buy a new computer (much to the delight of the industry), as well as all other games id’s (each Quake release forces are forced to buy new machines). I have a brand new Dell third 2 GHz machine with a GeForce FX 7200 and drives. For Doom 3, I had all the detail and graphics settings of a low kick, and also down to 640×480 just to keep it from a slideshow. It is now only “playable” (still looks great!). As faster computers and graphics cards, which is to be really cool, so id was prudent to go so over the top detail, performance and feature-wise. Technically, this game is to enjoy life (if other things are fixed – read on).

2 Creep factor – not nearly the frightfest we were hyped on. This is basically a walk in an “Alien” movie. Not a single goose bumps during the game at work. If I play it at night get goose bumps, then it is not so terrible. Fright factor of the old DOS Doom was much more fear than this. The original Doom game really scared us, fear and anxiety. It was fascinating and all-encompassing. were found It was a combination of the atmosphere (the values actually intimidating and revolutionary EPIC) and originality. Doom 3 just feels like you’re a guy from the Orkin pest control, which has wandered into an “Alien” movie.

3 The gameplay is good, but monotonous. Here we are in the 22nd Century, and still keep flashlights? Heck, I strap on a small battery-powered head lamp going out to my woodpile so I can use my hands and have light At the same time. A high-tech Space Marine does not have a combat helmet with a light on it? Or night vision device? I have played this game less than six hours and I’m already sick to death of death, because I am in possession of a flashlight instead of a weapon. This aspect of the game is not only ridiculous and implausible, but downright stupid.

4 The monsters are great. Too bad you do not get them to appreciate. They are so quick, you will never get a good look at it. It is so dark, if you fall on your flashlight to shoot them, you never look at them. They must kill so quickly that you are not a good look at it. And if you kill them, they evaporate, so again, you will never get a good look at it. This is a real bummer, because the game is all about the monster. One of the fun aspects of the original Doom games, at least if it is “new”, was to see that courage to pile there again after his heart with a rocket ordered.

5 I agree with the “Doomed to write three” – this game is getting to see everything on PDAs through doors. Boring, redundant, and is in the way of playing the game. This is a lame attempt, history, and add “cerebral content” to a game that requires, for obvious reasons, no. I mean – a revolutionary computer game forces you to use a simulated PDA to get through a door? It is ridiculous, boring and disruptive. Give me Quake 2 on each day, where does each door so I can go in there and waste to monsters. It is such a thing as too much realism, as flight simulators are so complex that they do not have fun anymore. Doom 3 is coming very close to this problem – not good for any game, especially a shooter.

6th Corridors. As brilliant as the surroundings in this game are, I am sick to death of corridors. Doom 1 and 2 were wide open, where you really enjoy fun-range shots with rocket launchers and had good views to your enemies before the shutter button. You have too large hoards of monsters in the green and have fun blowing to see these groups deal with long-range rockets, plasma and BFG. The atmosphere is incredibly important, and hallways get really, really, really boring. What is the point that with a rocket launcher in this game, if you’re always in the rooms too small to make it without blowing your own face off use? This forces a very boring “they pick up a seventh at a time when they you” jump scenario gameplay.

Weapons – fantastic. I love the reload function. She has a great job on the weapons and it could not be better. Now they have to open spaces with natural light some actually use them to their full potential. One thing I MES sis fly the bodies. If you met a goblin in Doom1 / 2, the body flew apart as it came. I have not seen that in this game before, and I miss it. This was not only realistic but very realistic.

8 Speaking of daylight, we are on Mars, for crying out loud! Let’s get out there have in the Mars terrain and fun! THAT would atmosphere! Enough with all this shit “dark corridor” stuff. It puts me to sleep. Well, I confess, I’m not all the way through the game yet, so hopefully the whole game is not so. I have faith that eventually improved.

9 Speaking of darkness and the gameplay, the endless darkness everywhere seems pretty obvious that it is otherwise a very boring game without the stress of being in the dark. Not good. This game is all motor and some fun in the sense that the original Doom games were. Again, hopefully improving as you go through the game.

10th This game requires serious multiplayer network play and id really blew it here. After us the Quake games, Return to Wolfenstien, etc., there is simply no excuse for this limited, wimpy 4-player-only stuff. Shame on you, id. You guys know very well that this would piss off us stuffed. And DOOM 3, of all games. If it’s a game that needs to be perfect network in multiplayer functions, it is this. And after games like Quake series, I can not believe, id botched multiplayer so bad – the one feature that makes their games legendary. If they made one more year would get, Doom 3 from the door with the multiplayer capabilities, which it deserves, we would all be more than happy to wait for it.

11 . This game is really to shine when the public begins to create new levels for them. That is, if the guys from id release a level editor (she?). Also multiplayer networking is to be placed at least Quake 3 performance. This must be done or Doom 3 is attacking a straw fire due to boring surroundings, the lack of industry-standard multiplayer networking, monotonously predictable and ridiculous monsters darkness darkness darkness be.

12th Game’s awesome, but only because of the potential, if the people creating custom levels for IT and the assumption that begin multiplayer is fixed. Doom 3 without multiplayer “warfare” ability does not do it.

I recommend this game, it’s great. Could be better, but it is still first-rate, especially for the single player.

  2. Doom 3 (2004).

Back in the early 90’s, when the computers that are still beating their stride length and video games the last thing on the minds of People were two revolutionary games were released. These games were “Wolfenstein 3D” and “Doom.” Both games were immensely popular, so it’s no surprise many sequels have been released for each game. “Doom 2″ was a worthy follow-up to “Doom”, but brought nothing new to the table. Now, in 2004, Id Releases ‘Doom 3′, in full 3D environment with realistic graphics! Thus, “Doom 3″ a disaster overhyped, or the game that meets everyone’s up to expectations? created Read on to find out!

    Game Ratings

-Graphics’ Doom 3 has its greatest revolutionary graphics have been, it is not surprise here, what is expected. Character designs are frighteningly real, the atmosphere that you feel to walk almost as if you are in it, in other words, you feel the blood on the walls and see the demons jumping out of the shadows as whether it is real. A very surreal experience. 5.5

Play Control-Although I am not a big fan of PC controllers, there is nothing to complain about here, like “Doom 3″ simply places the FPS controls to make it easy for the players, and I found it a breeze to walk around and blast demons. 5.5

Plot’Doom 3 ‘, like’ Half-Life, “has a stunning and deeply shocking act.” Doom 3 “is about an exercise on the planet Mars inadvertently opens a portal to hell, and you need to survive and fend off Mars by the demons. The story is very exciting, and when you start to play, it is difficult to stop! 5.5

;-Challenge ‘Doom 3′, which is not as challenging as ‘Half-Life’, yet mysterious and difficult in many ways. Most of the game, you are forced to fight multiple enemies at once, it is a dark place (like the Aliens Vs. Predator series), and one of the hardest things about the games for more and fear after a monster jumps out of the coverage of nowhere. Also, as with the old games, you will be asked to recover keys, cards, etc. in order to continue your game, this is always a challenge. 5.5

Replay Value ‘Doom 3′ is basically a single player game, and when you’re done, really the only do what you can replay it. There is multiplayer, but it only allows up to four players and is not nearly as much fun as the single player adventure. I was not too impressed. 5.2
< br /> Sound/Music- ‘Doom 3′ sport excellent sound so good in fact that I mute the sound for fear I would cry found! In very dark, quiet room when a demon jumps out of the nothingness, makes a ton of noise, it can get very scary! The sound is OK in other words! 5.5

Fun “Doom 3″, although is not much different from other FPS is still great fun, and blasting you to escape your way through the demons Mars have once you get hooked up the controller! 5.5

Total ‘Doom 3′ is a very good continuation of the first Doom’s two, and now that it is to have 3D and pixel shading atmospheres, it brings a whole new aspects into the game! Well deserved all the hype, but I can not wait for ‘Half-Life 2′

strongly recommended to fans of First Person Shooters, the ORIGINAL DOOM games, and people who want to be afraid! WARNING-DOOM 3 requires a really good job, and IT’S ALSO VERY creepy and rather recommended violent and disturbing! Not for persons under 13 years!

  3. Id Software’s Doom 3 revealed in 1999 to both fanfare and criticism. Id Software promised an exciting single-player game, some rudimentary multiplayer, and of course a brand new engine by Carmack and Co. I am waiting impatiently while (not counting the presentation) Doom 3 is not new territory, it follows the standard very well. < br />
Id Software Doom 3 is designed with a more compelling story, at least for a first-person shooter. The year is 2145 and people on the earth’s natural resources are running. What can be done? Well, several companies, including the Union Aerospace Corporation have set up plants on Mars to win with the natural resources of the Earth from the red planet. When you start the game, with absolutely nothing and have the task of finding a scientist equipped and complete other essential tasks. As you progress, and before long, you begin to realize that something is not clear right and then, well, all hell breaks loose. For fans of the classic Doom games, it is important to note that Doom 3 is the retelling of the original Doom Software-ID is not a continuation of the story.

Despite an emphasis on history He never brings the tempo of the game too much. Most of it is through cutscenes and the rest of you loyal to your PDA, a new addition to the series tells learn. The PDA allows you to e-mail, audio messages, codes and other useful information obtained. Some of these will help you the story (so you know exactly why, the hell), while other information to help you advance through the game. Other messages (including spam) will humor into the otherwise cold game to add.

Let’s be honest, the reason that many of us have been waiting for Doom 3, because of its rendering engine. John Carmack and the others at id Software have consistently raised the bar for graphics engine discussed with everyone. Id Software pushed the PC to the limit with the original Doom did, then with real 3D and Quake now has the most technically impressive game I’ve ever seen created. Even against the last heavyweights such as Painkiller and Far Cry, Doom 3’s visuals are a class better. With just about any graphic technology available, such as normal mapping, self-shadowing, per-pixel lighting and others that can not understand my fragile brain, the Doom 3 engine sight. Some games use normal mapping to appear “shiny” or a “plastic look”, but Doom 3 does not. All interiors are carefully working with computer monitors and what is not interpreted. In addition, these incredible interactive environments and often have their own enemies doors of walls and stairs. A fully functional physics engine, you can throw around boxes and cans, and the enemies as well. The animation is simply breathtaking, and is enhanced by the shadowing system in the game. The weapon effects are plentiful, as well. Everything casts a realistic shadow and a further improvement of the software view of Mars id.

Of course, to the full splendor, you will need to run a very efficient system. At my best, I could play at 1024×768 on high settings and playable frame rates. Just for giggles, I played the game on a 2GHz processor, 512MB RAM PC with an nVidia GeForce FX 5200 and found that could play at 640×480 low. Even at this resolution the game looks very nice. HardOCP has a full and detailed article on Doom 3 hardware, which is recommended reading. Click here for a look at it.

While many of the presentation is based on the kick-ass graphics, audio rounds off the stake in the atmosphere. Sure, you can run the game with stereo speakers, but the full experience, you will want to connect the fifth 1 Speakers. Id Software has set up surround sound to a large extent, and you will be able to get enemies before you can see, hear, adding to the realism. Otherwise, the sound effects and voices are crisp and firm, as expected.

And then there’s the actual game portion Doom 3 As I said above, Doom 3 is not really from the standard FPS action of shooting things that deviate move. Most of the time you would move around the claustrophobic areas in the plains, shooting one of the many annoying game enemy. Fortunately, there is not all run and gun and there are many times when I actually jumped back because a monster appeared out of nowhere. can define a kind look of stairs tear, and you’ll have to get ready a monster celebration. A lot of what makes Doom 3 is different from the atmosphere, the copious amounts of gore and blood contains, and the dark, eerie environments. The fear is greater because you can not use your flashlight and a pistol in the same time. This forces you to your strategy because you need the flashlight to see to think otherwise pitch-black areas, but do not want to be caught off cold.

The game’s weapons should be familiar to FPS fans, but works very well, since Doom 3’s gameplay. At the beginning of the game you’ll only your fists! Thankfully, before any real action starts, the flashlight, a pistol and a bit later to have the gun. The pistol is a decent weapon, but only if you are not the powerful shotgun cartridges. Later in the game you get a machine gun, which fairly accurately and quickly, a plasma cannon, which is basically a sci-fi machine gun and a minigun that much faster but less accurate. You’ll also find grenades, the fan-favorite rocket launcher (which looks awesome), and the devastating BFG (Big f’ing Gun) 9000, which is to wipe out the enemies in the current screen. There is also a mysterious Soul Cube, which is very powerful and useful. Ammunition is scarce rare in the game, so you have fun look at the pretty weapon effects.

The typical Doom enemies in Doom 3 found, albeit with a 2004 makeover. These monsters are a selection of demons, zombies, flying skulls, spiders, goblins, and the lovely pinky. Many of them will shoot at you, forcing you to make them. to take the larger enemies in the game several shells take down, but they are not very smart. They are only at the next hold to while you shoot them. This is a little disappointing and takes a bit away from the horror. Of course, you will be a lot of fear when she goes on break or something to come from a shadow.

Multiplayer in Doom 3 is limited to four players, although id Software has made clear that future mods to be able to support more players. A basic interface, you can join or create a game, and works well. There are five maps, including Edge 2, a remake of the beloved Edge card and four game modes. The most interesting tournament mode where you battle an opponent directly. As soon as they die (or die) another player who is waiting to get a turn. The other game modes are Deathmatch, Team Deathmach and Last Man Standing, all exactly as they sound.

Although multiplayer is simple in nature, created the graphics engine to the experience . For example, Doom 3 features per pixel hit detection, so that it is possible to distinguish between someone’s upper body and arm to shoot. The light and shadow effects provide hiding areas and forces you to be smart about the use of your flashlight.

To be honest, when Doom 3 was announced, I did not expect anything more as a technology demo to show how powerful was the engine. Although I was not entirely wrong in this statement, Doom 3 gameplay (for the single-player mode alone fifteen hours plus) offers enough thrills to justify the $ 54th to acquire 99th And thanks to id Software’s support for the modding community, we are some kick-ass mods to see in the near future.

  4. I’m anticipating this game for a while now, hoping it would be all I heard, it was his will. I am satisifed. Bet your #! @. Unsurpassed

Graphics: The graphics. Absolutely the best I have ever seen. (And my computer will only run on medium detail). They are eerie, atmospheric and altogether smoother and more interesting. People look excellent and the monsters look outrageous. Being that the game is so dark, but you’re really not in a position to see that much of the level design. (Although, what you see is very cool). The cutscenes are very well done and a pleasure to watch.

Story: The story is very cool and interesting. When I play – I’m just the cutscenes, and interested in what’s going on. The story is pretty easy to follow and act in the dialogue is done pretty well.

GAMEPLAY: This is my only complaint with the game. The game can be kind of repetitive. It sticks to a fairly basic FPS sketch. Go in the room, room clear, given points in space, go to the next room. There are some variations, the formula, but not much. Otherwise, it plays like a classic FPS. The game is definitely a blast to play. The atmosphere in this game is the best I have ever seen. This game is scary, really scary. Sometimes when you walk into a room, the lights will go out and only an evil laugh and then. . . You get the idea.

SOUND: There are some really creepy sounds in the game, some really scary random noises. There is not really much music in the game, but what is sound, it sounds really good. Especially with the fifth 1 that the game comes with. make the sounds of the monsters are pretty scary too.

Overall: This game is awesome. The complaints I have are rather low if compared to it, how much fun this game is to play. Graphically, it’s the best I’ve seen so far. (09/08/2004). And it is the scariest game ever. I stole it jumped several times. The atmosphere is so good that it just gives you right. You feel truly immersed. (At least I am not!)

In the light of my complaints about the repetition – Also, the weapons have been designed a little better sounding. They do not sound that incredible, and they could have added a few more. But another positive note, I would add that the interface in this game one of the best I have ever seen. Very user friendly and very well arranged. So hats off for that. Consider

When all is, my final grade: A-

Note PC * – Have a damn good. lol.

  5. 12 years after I shrugged my way through the originals, I was id Software’s latest from my local Fred Meyer’s last Tuesday. On Saturday morning I watched the credits scroll at the end of my past traumatized eyes. Obviously id old-school gameplay went with the latest graphics in Doom 3 * *.

    * * * D3 plays like Quake *. It is dark and strange looking. Doors open automatically or you can use to activate the fire buttons. You have no alt-fire, stealth, thin, or use functions.

Have a story for once. * Half-Life * owes about half of its land to the original Doom * *: Both games have had on the elimination of research by teleporting monsters from another dimension, and id it first. But * D3 * plays like a devilish mod * Half-Life: Blue Shift *. Both tracks send a low guard some forgotten corner of a massive research facility. Cancels all hell broke loose once the player has reached their respective goals. Barney to work and the “Marine” has their way to a portal to another world. They solve some critical problem in the other dimension and return to Earth for one final battle in some other forgotten corner.

That’s okay. * D3 * is a hard core game. It is also a hardcore system hog behind with my AMD 64 FX-51 CPU, AGP my 512 Registered ECC RAM, and my Radeon 9800 Pro 128MB the game in places, especially around doors, on the “High Detail” – setting 1092 x 768 res. The last steps just killed my frame rate.

Speaking of hardcore killing, D3 * * is all about overkill. Beginning with the first scene of this game is just dark, and I do not mean as-subject: apparently no one of the headlights on the 22 Mars has one century. Id like to long and deep shadow. Id also like blood: virtually any room in the character moves is caked in blood. That, and red lights and disembodied voices are the primary chills in this game. And all rub in, id makes sure that enemies jump out all over the place, often teleporting around the character, while the evil laughter echoes through the area.

Id’s obsession with atmosphere affects gameplay. How good are shadows, if the player can SNAG night vision devices or radar? That’s right: the main food of many first and third person shooters is absent. Instead, the player swings a heavy flashlight that doubles as a club useless against the thick skin opponents. To use a weapon, the player must sacrifice to light. This can be self-defense rather challenging.

The old-school weapons challenge the player as well. Apart from the imagination, skins, weapons, and could date from the First World War, the anachronistic gun with its wooden handle and steel semi-automatic pistol slide, I’m surprised the game designers not only to go past / present motif around. The “Machine Gun” sounds and behaves more like a Tommy Gun in 1920 anyway. The rifle has a semi-automatic bolt and charging handle, but works closely pumping action. And * D3 * ’s “Chain Gun” fire from an unusually slow ridiculously limited ammunition pool. All weapons except the BFG 9000, the rocket launcher, and the “soulcube appeared” have the same strength. The plasma gun take the same as the pistol, shotgun and machine gun.

But id’s interesting design decisions do not stop there. I can see why so many guests complain. The gameplay mainly consists of the following formula:

1 completed these steps into a dark, narrow room with flickering lights computer. Then:
is a. A monster staggers out of the darkness.
    B. A monster teleports in the darkness.
    C. A ghost whispers something sinister.
    D. A panel blows out of the ground or wall.

2 Continue to walk in a dark, confined filled hallway with flickering lights overhead. Then:
is a. A monster staggers out of the darkness.
    B. A monster teleports in the darkness.
    C. A ghost whispers something sinister.
3 d. A panel blows out of the ground or wall.

Then walk into a dark, restricted elevator filled with flickering lights touch panel. Ride the lift varies in one of the two previous locations.

Id this pattern with nice little horror movie scripts. Walk up to a bathroom mirror, and suddenly a grainy red filter increases as the laughter echoes and your reflection in an age of unhappy zombies kill you. Go into a control room and loose objects move violently, suddenly shoot across the room inches from your face. There are lifts with elevating blood-soaked body parts, skeletons, move a few feet, body dangling from the ceiling cables is all kinds of evil things.

Monsters included. * * Doom featured a bestiary directly from the medieval Christendom. * D3 * draws inspiration from contemporary zoological sci-fi horror like Alien * * and John Carpenter’s The Thing * *. Id kept many of Doom * * name, but the faces are quite different, and new creatures join the polygonal Parade.

Little of this is like the original and the pixelated 2D twitching torso-on -a-game decoration. * D3 * brings a Satanic invasion in the 3D area (cough, cough) with a motor that makes you safe lighting effects. Yet I can not say much between him and Far Cry’s * * Crytek engine. Id certainly has for years created a grim Funhouse of Dark Castle each image. But Crytek would be unlikely to duplicate * D3 * texture for bump mapping for the spectral if they wanted it. The only difference I have detected engineering * D3 * ’s totally cool computer screens to see clearly enough to actually read, and manipulate the game.

Manipulation defines this black masterpiece. There is no way multiple option, no stealth mission, no player on the spring traps. There is only the bloody course, the hum of a dying fluorescent light, and the total lack of something safe and familiar. It is you and your shotgun versus Legion. It’s great, if not repetitive.

I hate it and love it. * Half-Life * continue to the PC Bar to beat as far as balance and the general gaming excellence. * * Far Cry graphics engines and offers competitive effects. But when it comes hotrod to violence and horror, Doom 3 * is * “it added in my limited.
