I bought this game for my wife, who he has played for over two years and loves the game, but somehow she accidentally un-installed it on their computer and when they downloaded the game again, it was a newer version, and it would never work on your computer again. We found it online in CD form, and bought it and played it perfectly on her computer now. Everytime she starts the game it gives a message that a newer version of the game that you want to download and they simply no hits, because we fear the newer version will not work on their computer.
running XP Home Edition Service Pack 3, with the latest graphics driver.
We have a great deal from Amazon. com. , $ 2 50 plus shipping. beat you can not know that. .

I bought this game as part of the Quest Trio: one disc with Jewel Quest II Jewel Quest Solitaire and Mah Jong Quest II II This review is specifically about JQII.

I'm not about strategy to speak of it because I'm online you can for the search. My specific concerns about the game include the difficulty curve, which is terrible. JQII in five "books" and a book of "bonus stages", the book is just five again divided into a much harder skill level. Good deal, right? That is to play 216 different cards! Sort of. A few repeat of the boards, but that's not my concern, because on different difficulties.

No, the problem is the degree of difficulty between the Book. Books 1 and 2 are virtually identical to the boards. Book 3 SPIKES suddenly in trouble by a request to change the background then gold silver, instead of just gold, plus those evil monkey heads, which again places the original in their state. Books 4 and 5, then back again to be virtually identical books 1 and 2, without the silver or the monkey heads! Wait, what? I enjoyed Jewel Quest I, because it had a predictable, but graduated difficulty curve: addition of the first silver then gold, then the damn heads. Each level is set just a bit harder than the previous one, and that was a good thing. JQ II disappointed that the front and completion of the most important game of book 4 on felt tedious than fun, makes me feel like I was plowing just to finish it than actually playing for enjoyment.

To make matters worse are the bonus levels STUPID hard. The Specials, the books 1-5 More or less a Cake Walk (I have only one life before hypnotized in the gems and no attention to my time to make) suddenly disappear after each round, PLUS there is an additional item in any type board. The maximum of 20 shares life I had exhausted accumulated in just three boards. I know the game is not meant, in one life will be finished, but that I could almost literally 5/6ths of the game is downright ridiculous.

In addition, although a retail Buy-to disc, there is a disgusting iWin Games manager, says installed with the game and when you find around the site, where, as you open your games without loading, digging, which remains as well, it opened and install tracking cookies on your computer. To avoid this, you must manually after the game program on your computer and create your own shortcut, which I do when your computer is running slow enough as it is recommended. Even then I found that in certain chapters JQII would end sequences to crash. If there is a patch to fix this, I do not know and did not feel like searching, but the patch would have to change the game completely, and broken difficulty curve. It's definitely a let-down after the brilliance, JQI was.

Much better than its predecessors, Jewel Quest II, I found much easier and simpler. . . until someone mentioned to me that once all the levels you can play back completely. . . in super-hard mode. I only halfway through the second go-round made, and it is much more reminiscent of the impossibility that some of Jewel Quest I was

However, it is a fun and engaging game, and fans of Bejeweled, Peggle, Hexic, and the like will enjoy it. I recommend it to anyone, only willing to spend many hours on the computer. . .

Note: I've never played the tournament mode, as I do not normally play online games. Thus, this evaluation for the Classic mode, keep it!

The game itself is pleasant. However, I have not liked to play against a timer, and there is no option to remove the time constraint, I took off a star for that.

Another complaint I have is that the installer puts the game and an online interface to your computer. You do not have the choice whether to install the online component, and that the application will immediately start trying to load other games on your computer - again without authorization from you. I took another star for that. In fact, once I could, I play the game without this unwanted discovered additional component, I uninstalled the whole thing.

For a good game of gem, I recommend Bejeweled 2nd

Like many other PC games of this genre, the player has three or more objects in the row or column correspond to the board completely. made with each game, the objects disappear and other objects falling from above into the "holes" by the occupying simply deleted. No matter how dull and / or pointless such games of this nature can, and there are too many of them, they are still quite addictive; ico Jewel Quest 2 Tournament mode especially.

In this mode you are playing online against other players (in real time) clear to race against the clock to identical puzzles and as many points as possible. In the clearing board before time runs out, a bonus round allows the player to play and gather silver coins to spend extra points to play as much time as possible to earn in the bonus round, the key to scoring enough points to win "" the game against your oppponent online.

The opponents are drawn at random and players literally from around the world. After each competition, both players scores appear on the screen the results, the winners (and losers) explained, and the player with the highest score for the same game & board level on this day is revealed. There is also a "global" average showed that for all players. In addition, each player is "rank" and shows how many places in the standing he / she has improved or fallen for the next game. These statistics are very useful to evaluate your performance played in every game and see how it stacks up the competition.

If you're like me, (an "older dude"), the level of online competition is fierce, and there are certainly many other players are far better players than me. This may also be a cause for great frustration, but a very strong motivator to do better "next time" yet. Say

Needless Tournament mode is very addictive and the concept the "winning" can pretty hard (especially you should only a few degrees Schooler housewife or lost - a competitor's name can give you a clue - from the entire internet). Still want to win or lose, especially the latter, it makes you all more play to improve your score. It was not long been gone some hours, and their 3 clock in the morning.

This game has native African theme music and colorful backdrop screens that change at regular intervals during the game (s ). If the music is annoying, it allows the options menu for volume control. You can also optionally, the graphics mode to full screen vs window mode (partial screen) mode and 3D acceleration. You need an appropriately powerful PC with a graphics card of this generation not have the high-resolution graphics displays, and obstructed and / or dynamic response during the game.

In the Classic game mode (against the computer) the levels of progress by African motifs, and storyboards. There are several game boards (different designs) per level. In this mode, you start with more life and play continuously until you run out of life. Then you can "skip" on the next game screen or progressive retry to improve your skills.

You have to play a certain number of progressive games in Classic mode to "unlock" Buried Jewels, both in the classical or the tournament modes. Buried Jewels add a much higher level of complexity that I find so far to no need. This game is very challenging to be, even at the basic level of the game.

Disclaimer:
Unfortunately, I bought Jewel Quest 2 from the shelf of a retailer. After reading the CD-ROM (not installed for game Req'd) on my PC it did not support Tournament Mode, as the current download version. Like most store bought software - games included - I could not send it back to get my money. Without a Tournament mode, this game is not worth the full purchase price for that matter, and why someone would buy the first edition of Jewel Quest, when the sequel is so much better. Lesson learned, let the buyer beware.

In summary JQ2 (included, of course with tournament mode) is worth the price and certainly will be the average PC gamer for hours and captivating entertainment.
