  1. Before my thoughts on the Blu-Link remote get, I will say that I went off and bought two Logitech Harmony universal remote controls. to the Harmony 360 remote and the Harmony One Almighty be precise. These are the only products I have ever returned to Amazon. com. They were so nice to look at remote controls, and the computerized setup was easy. I just could not over the delay in the keypresses. No matter how you are inter-device or inter-key delay for the remote set there a noticeable delay between pressing a button and see the result. (For example: Keep the volume would be key for an A / V receiver for a few seconds to about 3-4 additional commands result after releasing the button. Annoying) I am far, only the user to be bothered by this, as a quick Google search can yield numerous results on the topic.

The Blu-link is a remote computing device, a display or a charging station. I give it 5 stars anyway. It does what it should do, and does it at a reasonable price. Using the supplied code, I had my PS3, Sony TV, Onkyo A / V receiver and DirecTV HD-DVR and runs almost all the way within a few minutes. I then spent 5, count ‘em, fill 5 minutes with the remote control’ learn ‘function to the remaining functionality. Remarkably, I ran into the same problem that another reviewer with my A / V receiver had it in power it on, but not off. Lessons for the Blu-link of the Onkyo remote power-code directly alleviated this problem. Several other commands have been learned from my old Onkyo remote, but the DVR and TV were good to go with the supplied code. The master volume feature works as it should, send all volume commands to the AUX input, the Onkyo receiver. The manual also explains how to set up a master volume set, but also the possibility, the volume of the TV if you are on the TV input to control. (I mention this, after other reviewers frustration with trying to do that)

Now, the reason I was so excited about this remote control in the first place: the ability to the PS3 controller. I can tell you that it works properly. Switch on, off, video / music playback, menu, almost everything you can do with the PS3 controller, with the Blu-Link remote control are made. To turn, you simply press the PS3 input selector. To turn it off, hold the “Home” button as you would on a PS3 controller, and select “Power off device”. Simple! The only OMMISSION I have seen the lack of “L” and “R” buttons. The one I use for it would have, the homepage is back / forward buttons (which is still slightly by hitting “triangle” and choose from the menu), but since I do not much web browsing on the PS3 it is not done a great deal.

The surface of the remote control is very attractive, and I find the button layout to be very comfortable. Be aware that the buttons are quite small, namely, the number keys and the transport buttons. (FF, RW, etc.) Anyone can have problems.

With large hands, I spent less than 10 minutes to set up this remote to control all my components and it has been lovingly since in the time. Yes, I have a manual adjustment of the inputs, if you see a movie, instead of colliding with a unique “Activity” button, but I also do not have to deal with the delays in Logitech remotes. The PS3 controller is fantastic, and you can get the Blu-Link remote control for $ 10 less than the price of the Logitech PS3 adapter alone!

If you are dissatisfied with Harmony remotes, you and you’re a PS3 owner, this is a snap. Buy it now!

  2. The version that ships as of 11/9/09 Selling is not the latest version and do not work with the PS3 Slim. After contacting Blu-link tech support, you can your remote firmware upgrade but you have to foot the bill for shipping back to them.

Other then that there is a cool remote control, easy to program and is learning other commands from other remotes. The price is right when recommend something like the Logitech Harmony series in comparison (which I eventually ended up buying).

When Amazon gets the new version, I’d this remote.

  3. I want this remote to control the love, and I almost did not really. There are only a few kinks that I really lived a hard time. Let me break my loves and hates:

    Love:
    – Nearly eliminates 6 Remote Controller (the “almost” is explained below)
    – “teaching” commands is a breeze
    – Contains a variety of keys so that I can logically assign keys
feel – well in my hand (I do not think the buttons are too small, and I have normal-sized Guy Hands)

    Hate:
    – Only 50 programmable commands globally. This means you can only “teach” the remote control 50 new things about all devices. I ran out before I have 60 of my receiver’s remote control, so I had to go back and choose which commands I really need a regular basis.
    – If you leave the remote in PS3 mode for a long time ( minutes?) it stops the control of the PS3 until you turn off the PS3 / on again. I re-connected, too, but I do not know if it called a necessary step, all the time.

When my first complaint, I support the company’s number and spoke with the fella there (very nice guy) and he confirmed that only 50 programmable commands. I asked him if I could request a feature, and that there be more space for the next model. Perhaps if enough people there we get our wish to ask. Location of the company [. . . ].

For my second complaint recommending, I do what you want in PS3 (Bluetooth) mode have and then change to another mode. The Bluetooth probably only put into sleep mode to save battery power, but it is very frustrating. Says Satish Modi change and I think everything will be fine.

Overall, I really like this remote because it’s one-of-a-kind. Why has not someone already thought of an IR / Bluetooth Remote? Who knows. But they have not, this is the best there is for now. It is definitely the first generation, but a great attempt. Hopefully they will iron out the bugs and the next version will completely rock. I know I get a game update.

  4. I was a Blu-Link remote control for Christmas and I have been with her. For me, the Blu-Link is working as expected at the most. It took about 10 minutes to set up, just because I have a Samsung TV and there are about 30 “codes” for Samsung to try. I, too, until my Sony HTIB and Motorola DVR from FiOS control.

One negative, the device does not currently support the DVR function on the Motorola. I have the “multi-room” DVR and the main field, where the PS3 is. I could program the remote for an interview Motorola set-top box, and it works well, but I can not for the DVR function and Blu-link-list is not a Motorola DVR code. Maybe they’ll add it in the future.

I have the remote control to “push” to the Sony HTIB because when I set the volume button, so no matter what other device I’m controlling , volume surround-sound volume changes only. I like this feature. I can not seem to “Customize” from him, but have no need.

My only other negative is that I have a night where I had to keep reconnecting to the remote for the PS3 had. For what reason it would not work. When I popped out the battery and put it back in would work. Since that night (New Year), it is not necessary has to be turned on again, so white, what was the cause.

Overall, it is the job for movies on PS3 and Controlling 3 other devices made. It is much cheaper than buying a Harmony remote with a PS3 adapter, and I feel no desire to buy a Harmony now that I have the Blu-Link. I hope the New Years Eve shutdown problems will not arise again, and finally for the Motorola DVR with multi-room support on FiOS is available.

  5. This remote was on my list, because Christmas Sony does not offer a remote for watching movies on the PS3. (Do not expect with this remote control as another game controller, although it has used some of the controller buttons.) The universal remote capability was an added bonus. I was happy with him until he stopped working with the PS3 Slim. In the middle of the first film I saw it suddenly not every PS3 controller functions. I found out by the manufacturer (and other posts here) that made this a problem with the first 1000, which is obviously anything that leads Amazon. (I think Amazon should refer to the issue Slim in his description.) Sony apparently changed the firmware on the PS3-slim model, this remote not to function. I like this remote so I expect a replacement with a firmware update, but I have to pay return shipping for the old. On the credit side of the remote control my HDTV and TiVo HD works without problems. It learns your other remote functions easliy if you want to change it. It is a little small, but buttons are well laid in the rule. I find myself more often with my TiVo remote, because I was so familiar with him, but the practice would have this remote works almost as well. A backlight would be nice too. All in all, I was happy with this remote, but if you need PS3 Slim functionality make sure you find one with the latest firmware, if you want to pay additional costs for the return.
