  1. Ordering: 5 out of 5
arrived directly from Amazon two days after placing the order. The retail box is OK, but with eggshell carton for internal support, was the oversized shipping box with AIRPACK probably necessary. The Pro comes with a DVD (. HTML manual, drivers, and Flight Simulator X Demo) and a single page, multi-lanquage sheet. Printed instructions on the plug to stop and load the DVD to install the drivers.

    Appearance: 5 of 5
aesthetically superior to the X52 IMHO. And many other brands as well, this is a serious piece of the peripheral, but just looks like it means business, unlike most competitors splashy silver.

Function: 4 of 5 < , br /> It’s still a good stick, spring tension throughout the range of movement is consistent, although strength is somewhat light. Not for left-handed. Fashion may change easier to control for one-handed when they were on the left instead of right side of the column, I find myself letting go of the handle to turn the joy of a mode switch. Toggle buttons at the base of the stick are not the old mechanical trimmer potentiometer-up on the left switch changes the perspective of the FSX demo, out of the box.

Throttle MFD Display is angled view, simpler than the X52. MFD has a clock, move the wheel and it turns into a stopwatch. Switching power for the wheel button is easy to press quite easily if you just want the wheel. Throttle grip has a button-style mouse works just like the mouse button on some laptop keyboards. In about 80% gas the force, the military / afterburner detent pass is difficult Select the setting helps some.

If you are in the helm, the handle turns for the Z-rotation, or pull the small tab on the base of the Twist for Lockdown and handle or use with separate pedals. However, with a strong twist, there are about 20% Z rotation set even with the lockout. Bump the deadzone care or disabled zrot when not in use, maybe a sensor instead of lock would work better here.

    Software: 1 of 5
This is where we fall short, especially if your new PC came with Vista. The programming SW is on the accompanying DVD, but straight from the Saitek website and obtain the latest drivers and profile editor, when / if available. Dialups guard, driver + editor downloads are up to 20 + Mb depending on the OS. Latest Vista drivers recognize the device and installed, but the lack of software programming and profiles for Windows Vista is a bust. The latest drivers adds on / off / color control for each LED, very nice, but the control panel display settings stay with the PC, not a game, how I can best determine. There is also an SDK for programming the MFD, requires MS Visual Studio C / C + +.

The FSX demo was not some little cards and five aircraft, including the twitchy helicopter Bell . Only single engine choice is an ultralight, but 65m/110k per hour Airborn still beats a drive every day;) and stopped after about fifteen minutes or so the screen goes blank, and the demo.

, A big problem with the lack of profile editing software, the files for X52 to be created are not compatible with the Pro. Also, the Vista driver recognizes a per-file on XP. Until Vista-capable editor is released and / or contributions Saitek Pro version more profiles, the inability to adapt is more difficult.

The IMFD plugin for FSX seems either the same X52 vs X52Pro problem or may have an operating system. exe error. In XP SP2, double clicking only leads to an error message dialog box. The demo program in the SDK output loads and runs, and has led to much like the Vista control panel LED Control tab, change with the exception of the button labels in the dialog box, never with the state.
< , br /> But keep an eye on the support site, this would be a 5 element when the software is online, check the file is from the Saitek (DDMMYY).

    software versions:

    Vista 32bit driver 6 0th 2nd 123 300 107 filedate, editor of NA.

  2. Please note, I am writing this from the perspective of someone who Saitek X45 used for four years, so most would have notes compare to the X52 and the X52 standard. I get pretty picky about the different functions, so for those interested in the bottom line, you can read most of these and just skip the last paragraph. :) Is compared

with the standard X52, the X52, in fact, a significant improvement. All the additional functionality of the multi-function display to the side, the quality is simply higher. However, I am still very surprised that so many steps have been taken back from the old X45.

In comparison with the original X52, the spring tension in the stick of the X52 Pro is a great improvement. I remember very disappointed in the X52, when I picked up model allows a display and the weak spring the stick fall under its own weight. The X52 has a second spring to help centering, and it is much better, but still pretty weak

Also, as with the standard X52, X45 is the rudder rocker disappeared, replaced by the twisty stick. Now, I understand it, because it is a common practice in joystick design now. . but I’ve never seen an aircraft with this function, and if the target is realistic, you need pedals. The rocker has always felt more intuitive to me.

I think my biggest disappointment in this floor, and the standard X52 is the new style for the dials on the gas. To install the buttons in the centers of the dials, they had to sacrifice the quality of the dials themselves. The X45 had wonderful dials, with a smooth swing of approximately 300 degrees in a circle, and a great feeling. The new style on the X52s is terrible by comparison. The new dials are difficult to rotate due to their construction (instead of actual buttons, they are now tapered shapes with very little grip of any kind flattened), they are truncated to a series of movements of less than 180 degrees, and felt as if the mechanism is completely made of plastic (from which it seems to be actually, as the dials could easily fall off a structure made of plastic). A far cry from the well-oiled feeling is the X45 dials. While I appreciate the extra buttons, they could have placed somewhere else, save the quality of the dials.

I swear that’s enough now. I tend to be very picky, and those are things that still stick in my memory. However, there are also some new features that I appreciate very much.

First, the extra buttons. In total there are at least nine other buttons on this stick as the X45, including the toggle switch (which I cherish, not the blocking of the hat switch with flaps, landing gear, speed brakes, etc.). The new style has the castle and switches are a welcome change of design, as to cover the spring loaded “fire” button. The new slider-axis is very useful (even if the feeling it leads me to believe it may be sloppy in the future), as is the scroll wheel on your mouse, and contain key.

; change the mouse controller for full two axes Mini-Stick is a mixed bag. . . There is a lot more choice of control over the mouse, but also complicates things if you want to use it as a regular hat switch (only a matter of adaptation). In addition, this mini-stick stuck, you get your mouse pointer to force remain in motion after you drift. This is especially annoying because it kept the screen saver from starting. Note also that the mouse pointer to ALWAYS, even if no profile applied. With the default settings, you can simply use it as a two-button mouse full time. A setting to disable this, and turn it into a four or eight key hat would be nice.

The multi-function display (MFD) is a nice feature, but I still have not really use it in any way. The radio stack-ability in Flight Simulator X is nice. It also has the ability to interact with Windows Media Player, display the current track, and observe the right wheel volume control (you, it is backward, and poorly scaled-scroll-up for the volume down, and expect a long browse before you notice a change). Do not expect more than that change, although the other buttons do not do something useful (such as title, pause, etc). It may be possible to use these functions themselves, but using a multimedia keyboard program is Musch easier.

In total, I am not quite happy to finally finish my X45, but I am much happy with the X52 Pro. It’s all I need it to do and was very well so far. While there are a few things that could still work with my opinion, are they not prevent me enjoying it. I’ve used in several games, and it has performed well in each of them. At this point in time, the X52 series (I would recommend the Pro version over the standard, but is the standard version of a lot cheaper) is likely to pay the best bargains on the market, because you easily over $ 300 can for the combination of a stick and gas.

  3. I recently bought the X52 Pro and I really liked the feel and appearance of the product and if it worked it worked great, but after three days of light use the joystick button 1 and 6, reacts with the pov pov 1 and 2, It is not only swivel 360 degrees and 3 to 9 clock clock Pivot. Saitek Support found that the product was faulty and suggested that I return it for exchange. I sent it back for exchange, I also use at least the replacement for five days and had also stopped working. I can not believe this company has such poor quality products. Go to the forum and do a search on Saitek X52 and you will find several problems with this product. I wish I had done this before I bought. For the price they would charge for this product you think that it will be better quality. But then again it is made in China. Do some research before you buy this product, it can save you some headaches down the road. The only positive thing about buying is that Amazon was really great in the exchange of goods and refund of my purchase.

  4. I have upgraded from the original X-52, which was also a big stick in my opinion, never has problems with her, had other people. The only minor problem with the joystick was corrected with the original X-52 Pro, was the weak mid-spring. The Pro also look different and hat along with a few key improvements. You need to upgrade re-program all your profile if you from the older version. You can not beat the price and Saitex ProFormance, I am satisfied.

  5. I had set the CH Yoke and Throttle first, which was ok, but I did not notice that had set up the control I feel sharp looking. I did some research on the Internet, reading the posts on different systems and finally decided to go with the Saitek X52 Pro Flight System. I ordered it and while on the expensive side, I found everything about this controller in the first class and every cent’s worth. It looks good, feels great in your hands, and it is much closer to the control of all aircraft axis. I am completely satisfied and will never again return to the CH Yoke setup going on.
