  1. For those of us that Apple IIe classic version of “play, where in the world is Carmen Sandiego?” This game is far different than the original. In the original, and most of the remakes, the format was the same with a full range 10:00 to 20:00 VILE henchmen like Carmen. The format uses a random selection system with an anonymous villain with random loot from around the world. The gameplay was somewhat repetitive, playing with almost unlimited cases, over and over, but still is a very addictive style – and fun!

The game in this jewel-case YELLOW (and the blue jewel-case, a mirror image is the cover of the yellow), modernized a story arc that is very linear, is sold. The only villain is Carmen. There are six major cases, which merge continuously into each other, without space for a break. The seventh case is rather a comprehensive collection of all of the stolen artifacts from the last six cases, which are bundled in a follow-up story. . .

I played through the first time, and it took only about five hours to install in order to end credits. making for children, I sure that this simplified version can have fun, but once played to the end, it’s kind of boring the second time around.

Sure, I can about the age be a market for this game, but I still enjoy downloaded the DOS version, which is an exact copy of the Apple IIe version of the original. . .

Overall, if you looking for a cool game that reminds you of your own childhood, this is not the case for you.

; try the versions in the green box or the TAN colored boxes – anything by Broderbund is more like the original, and far superior.

extent because they run in Windows XP provide, Just be sure to compatibility mode for Windows 95,98, ME and turn will be good.

    GAMEPLAY:

Basically, each site a still image with your two animated characters, the left and right of center. There are “hot spots” (as sometimes in Myst) that cause the one or other of the characters to describe the scene or the country or the history or characteristics.

There are signs that the on details, listen to or to give things click.

There are puzzles (five total), to solve you or to collect the pieces and to arrange in a certain order. . . .

Carmen can be seen in a door after you, or on a hot spot, only to get away easily.

There are literally only a few sequences in which your characters chase Carmen or see things unfold, and a looped sequence for “The Chief” animated talk by ACME HQ.

There are tools on the vest worn your characters, and it is a phone that you connect with “The Chief” and that was it.

  2. It’s a little frustrating to get difficult, “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?” work in the Windows Vista environment. Here’s a useful workaround.

To the Start Menu and select Control Panel. Click on “Programs.” Under Programs and Features, select “Use an older program with this version of Windows” and select “Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? “From the list of programs. You have several ways for you to run the game. I found that the game was best in the Windows 98 environment, with the display to 640×480 with 256 colors. When you finish setting the game up, right click on the Carmen Sandiego link and choose “Run as Administrator”. Wallah!

The game itself is fun (if you can get it to work). I had expected a more modern version of the game (ie, similar to what I found in the primary Advantage software package), but for the price, it is not bad.

  3. I bought this to play “Where in the world …”- version for my grandchildren when they visit. It is as much fun for them as it was when her mother won. Updated but as educational as ever! The best part is that the children learn, and not even noticed! Thanks – Carmen!

  4. The manufacturer says the game is compatible with Windows XP, but it is not. I have worked with technical support trying since before Christmas, it employs lead with no success. I can not behind the login screen player. The program will switch to say, it is a mistake. Although the game was cheap, this purchase was not worth the time spent and money. I can not Carmen Sandiego and at this point I do not want to be found.

  5. Got error message, it is not running. I tried using “run all retired” from the Control Panel, with nothing. Did not the Mariners are again likely more expensive than the product.
