  1. Do not believe the negative hype surrounding this title, it is a spectacular Xbox 360 Next Generation release.
I’m not sure how close the game the comic created by Top Cow, but there are many similarly treated to be experienced both visually and game play as The Darkness.
Let’s start with some of the positive aspects Graphically this game:

this game is absolutely breathtaking in its graphical beauty issue.
The dark Gritty New York City Streets really that “real city” vibe.
garbage litters the streets and the subway systems, covers practically every wall graffiti (and was the graffiti graffiti actually looks, you would see in real life).
So much detail in the floors, ceilings, walls and in your general area has been made, that it very easy to get deep into the darkness is illuminated.
After the true next-gen graphics style, all wood surfaces in the game look like real wood, metal resembles real metal provides amazingly realistic concrete. You can see in color chips, cracks and chips in the concrete – its literally breathtaking.
The Darkness is based on the use of shadows and the lighting engine is superb. Light radiates from virtually any surface that would reflect light (including leather). Every object casts a real shadow.
Since you are in a city there are lights everywhere and therefore your Darkness power to work or mean you have to recharge in the shade.
In fact, that from any light you come in contact with.

character models look really good. Not as good as Gears of War models, but the characters look believable, move most of the body, as they should look more realistic clothing. Cloth looks amazing. The bodies look a little bulky, but nothing major.
Face models are wonderfully detailed, you can see wrinkles and imperfections in the characters faces. Sometimes you can see, however, mimic the not too often. The faces are probably the most detailed aspect of each character. The eyes look into this game full of life.

The darkness powers look awesome. Your character acquires two demonic serpent heads on either shoulder, and they look perfect. Each dark power is very well represented graphically.
Weapons look realistic, some of the most realistic representations that I have ever seen in a game.
On a side note, you will learn where the darkness comes.

The physics are really cool. Everything seems to go as it should. With one of your darkness powers you can pick up objects and people and throw them. This looks very cool and makes you feel like a real “power-to-be-expected-with.”

Some argue that the act is in The Darkness clichéd and boring, but I beg to differ. It is true that the act in New York Mob scene is saturated and leads with it the good ol ‘revenge angle and other Mafia generic-Ness, the story really well told and keeps you still quite active. There are also a few twists of the story and can only say that is not New York City the only place you visit in The Darkness. There are some things shot here!

Another important aspect is how some of the main characters of the story is told. Instead of loading scenes, monologues are the main character was given. In these monologues he is either a story from his childhood, re-telling or advising on current plot elements, or just sit there looking at his guns.
This adds much more to the whole “cinematic” element of darkness and gives you something to while the game loads to search. Much better than staring at a loading screen flashing.
More unique things including television sets, can interact with. This TV show five or six channels of the real material. Some have cartoons, music videos and other, there are two movie channels. They show real movies and I think we can see the whole way through.

The score of each scene is perfect, ranging from Death Metal (battle scenes), the orchestrated music (when speaking and scenes in the subway). Also there are other areas where music is played either heard or heard of NPC’s (there are people, the harmonica and break dancers, who will play and dance for you).

Character- development was well done, you take care of us actually do the characters around and you grow to hate your archenemy. They will grow especially in the vicinity of your friend Jenny. I grew really attached to her during the game. By the way her face model is one of the best I’ve ever seen in a video game.

Okay, let’s talk about unique aspects:

; Summon Summoning Darklings: In The Darkness, you gain the ability to Darklings (look like little elves) to meet your needs. Darkling Each has its own special ability and funtion.
The dark models look really cool, and they each have an attitude that only due to a dark could be. They urinate on the dead body and make rude comments.

Control is really well done despite what some reviewers may say. I find the controls easy to use. Charge of dark powers call Darklings to use the weapons and regular movement is: I found everything easy to understand and control.

This is a FPS, but with some RPG elements. < , br /> your darkness powers level up after a certain amount of hearts have been eaten (that’s right, eat your heart the dark snakes of the fallen bodies, only the evil characters though). Success through each level until a new dark power is.
The powers you really feel super-human.
They range from the open position, a black hole portal for everything in and to kill all the enemies around sucking the control of an arm that can grab objects and enemies to skewer, to a duel swinging trapeze guns, the bullet shells in the power of darkness.
Each service has its use and is to use very funny, never got stale or boring.

Another aspect is the RPG side missions and some more free roaming nature of this game. The game is basically broken down in certain streets and landmarks, with the subway system as a central hub. In the subway system that you are not using, you can act your arms (this area as “safe-village”, which are frequently found in most RPG’s). The underground is where you get all the side missions from NPC’s.
They range from simple to time consuming, but the overall good mood.
The game is free roaming in an extent . You can through the streets, but they are cut off visible at a certain point. You can not go into any building on foot. But these restrictions do not mean much, because The Darkness will be a story, rather than an open-ended experience.
Total explore the areas of decent. There are even collectors’ items to collect throughout. You have to do some searching to find them, but worth it. If your place in this sort of thing.

The developers of a proper system for the development of these collector items (which I think game videos and comic books released, I think). < br /> The Collectors pick you really are phone numbers that you always pay phone in the subway system (can call most of the phones on the road, are broken. Go figure!) When you call they usually reach someones answering machine. And most of the time the message is a funny.

There are also secret numbers scribbled on walls and such, and prompt when calling another side mission where you will find about 16 secret phone numbers will To unlock a secret to success.
Speaking of achievements, there are a lot. And even those are fun. I will not tell you what they are, but I will say that you track your performance over a break-down menu.

There is so much scripted dialogue in the darkness, the cinematic qualities and realistic about this game to be further strengthened. Passer-by NPC (non-playable characters), no button to say the plot or side quests do not really much. But those who ask, side-missions, key plot characters and enemies have to do in the fight to all say much.
I love it when fighting the enemies that I talk trash to me or cower in afraid to if I fight them. It really fits like to play the game.

If you’ve ever played Condemned: Criminal Origins, you are really this game. The Darkness seems to be closely related with the spirit of Condemned. However, the dark much fast in terms of impact and control.

I still have the multiplayer deathmatch Xbox Live to try gaming.

Total I recommend the dark. It is a true experience of the next-gen gaming, you will not be disappointed. There are so many little nuances in this game that it only give a realistic feel and revive the game in so many ways thrown. This is a real treat to Wat

    eternal now

  2. I was surprised as pleasant by the darkness.

It seems that games based on the level of being are compelling and convincing increase rare. In fact, not since Deus Ex, I played a game that really drew me in, and I had the game with the game as it was a toy. On the Xbox 360 there is really only a few must-own games at this point. Gears of War is one of them, sure, and, in my opinion, it is Oblivion.

The Darkness Now you can add to this list.
< br /> I had a great time with The Darkness, and sometimes close to the kind of experience I had with Deus Ex (which, for better or worse, I consider to be the gold standard in this genre came). Besides being fun to play with it, this game again and again you infatuated with his love of detail and the level of thinking that went into their design.

Here are just some of the elements and details make this game so impressive:

-The voice acting in The Darkness is simply the best I have seen in a video game, bar none. So good is the voice that you find it to your own astonishment. Each of the hero Jackie to Jimmy the Grape (oh man, I loved Jimmy the Grape) is performed excellently.

One of the first things you notice is the little vignettes you visible during the LEVEL LOADING. The designers use what otherwise “dead time”, to be actually added to the atmosphere of the game. />

No Artificial Huds. The information in this game is, for the most part, presented in a “realistic” way. One example is the already given information kiosks in the subway (you get an authentic voice to give you directions, NYC). Another example is the height of your Darkness powers, as identified by optical signals to the power of manifestation.

COLLECTIBLES and bonus material. Adding the Collectibles, this game was a big step. Basically this is analogous to the Cog Tags in Gears of War, giving you an incentive to fully explore all aspects of the environment. The new variant is that this collection scores, not only achievements but also unlock bonus materials such as comics, videos, production and technology. Very smooth. One of the two types of collectibles are phone numbers and when you unlock the bonus materials from the search for a phone and call the number. If you do this, you will receive a unique and acted perfectly answering machine message, many of which are funny or disturbing. I loved every one.

-Darkness powers. The Darkness powers are the most important game “gimmick” by The Darkness, sort of like bullet time in Max Payne. You quickly find out that the powers pretty much what you use all the time, rather than, say, guns are. There are a good number of conventional weapons available, but you do not care much about them at the end. The two coolest Darkness powers are 1) Creeping Dark and 2) Demon Arm. The insidious Dark allows you to “remote” Discover your environment with a lot of freedom, including climbing walls and getting into small spaces. This extended freedom compels you almost see what you can do with it, and you find yourself experimenting to see exactly where you can go. Of course you can attack with the Creeping Dark, and at the beginning that you a lot. The Demon Arm is great because you can almost pick up everything and throw it. Pretty far if you want. So, you realize that you are stacking cars on top of each other, or throw rubbish containers on people, so you spend a lot of the time just screwing around Sun Oh yeah, you can also attack people and knock out lights with Demon Arm. (But it really is to produce a really big pile of cars.)

There are a number of surprises in the game that I will not dwell, for obvious reasons. Suffice it to say that there is more to this game, what has been said, and like the rest, it is very well recommended.

Complaints? Subtleties? Only a few, really. No game is perfect. Maybe my biggest gripe is that the last stage and ending was very unsatisfactory. In fact, I was sure that I could achieve a better finish. It turns out that is how it ends. On the other hand, makes it clear to the end that this is just a first chapter in what should be a really great series of games. Other than those minor quibbles really. I just do not contribute Darklings really much to the game, but maybe it was just me. Nevertheless, they do add some entertainment.

All in all, The Darkness GREAT. If you have a 360, you should own this game.

  3. Starbreeze Studios has created a good game. With the acclaimed Chronicles of Riddick engine they took a swing at the Top Cow Comics anti-hero of darkness. I am glad to report that they nailed it, is a fan of the comics that I can tell you the mood and atmosphere perfectly and grainy. The Darkness is his own brilliant, and fits well with the games action. Which is fast and furious the shootings has led some nice features like the design, add the gun-kata beat downs, scripted are the top of the comic-style action. The main disadvantage is the games all season, 10 to 12 hours with the most side quest included. I can only hope that will star Top Cow to work with Breeze and a little more level content for the individual player.

I know I want to know about the powers. The First you get is the darkness that it itself acts as a protective shield around you in a live combat. As you continue to win the morbidly funny and talkative Darklings each with useful tools and attacks. You can also explore and perform stealth kills with the tendrils that sprout from his back. You get to use a demonic arm / Spike, rifles, that the darkness as ammunition, and finally the ability to create a black hole.

The story is a retelling of the resurrection story line, the character brought back from the dead. Some reviews are now the game too easy, because if you have all your powers are not many people who can stand against the power of darkness. So, I for my part like this because in every other comic-action game there is a point you got the feeling that the character is not as strong as they should be, but you can have a long darkness with the power to make it Save only for the end deposited the game. Overall, it is a good game and has an interesting formula to take on the shooter. If you like shooters, this is a violent one good choice.

Also the multiplayer as a great throw back to Alien VS Preditor.

If you ever wanted to make the monster for the game instead of playing the victim chased the darkness a shot. I was in the game and swept through disipointed how short it was, if you want to pick only one new shooter, I say rent it would.

  4. I have never read The Darkness comic. I was not behind the fact that the character like a bad Spawn rip-off and the quote of brunch shuttlecocks on the truth behind Dungeons & Dragons looks like: “I attack the darkness!”

The Darkness is mixed substantially all of the Mafia film with the cliche brooding atmosphere of The Crow. In fact, the protagonist, Jackie Estacado seen (Kirk Acevedo) and sounds a lot like Michael Wincott, the top dollar played in this film. If you have seen The Crow, you know that Wincott is a very distinctive appearance got with his long black hair, leather coat, hawks and features. In the darkness is Jackie Ratface lovingly of his girlfriend Jenny Romano (Lauren Ambrose) called. As you can imagine is, with personal connections in a dark game like this is inevitably a liability, but I digress.

The Darkness owe a lot to films like Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction, with random story from our hero, outrageous characters and an uneven mix of action and drama. The first cut-scene (with all the graphics created in the game) is a perfect sense of what’s to come: curse much, much Gore, absolutely no respect for authority and a lot of violence instead, all in New York. It is the New York of the seventies, healthy as rampant crime and graffiti and intellectually, the people were not alone walk alone. And you also one of the reasons.

The Darkness are is a two-headed demon symbiont that lives within the Jackie and, as we discover later, the entire blood line Estacado. In this respect the game a lot like Spawn or Venom is, the darkness is a personality as much as it is one thing that Jackie’s significant gun-fu skills enhanced with the ability to black holes that suck everything in them to create barbed whiplash tentacles, magic weapons and snake-like mouths. In the darkness, Jackie can summon other demons to his commandments, the loading of explosives for kamikaze critters with Gatling-gun-wielding warrior range.

Jackie’s opponents have no such super powers, and it is a credit to the game of the Creator, that any supernatural monsters you encounter all fit the action. There is no inevitable escalation of the bad guy wins super-powers to draw the battle, yes, the villain behind most of Jackie’s suffering is, Uncle Paulie Franchetti (Dwight Schultz) as a moral slide as he an arch-enemy. It is not to kill the point.

The game revolves around the question of Jackie’s soul. Life is a violent mob, and the darkness contrasts the mythical honor of the “old ways” with the mad-dog frenzy Franchetti. When does Franchetti blowing orphanages, use the older Mafiosi Jackie as their form of revenge.

The Darkness uses the New York subway system as the primary means of commuting from place to Jackie place. That makes perfect sense and a sense of realism to an otherwise route the form of travel, unbalanced, as many first-person shooter. The streets are with entertaining characters, all of them have filled their own missions to complete. Two of the most memorable characters include Butcher Joyce (Mike Starr) and Aunt Sarah (Norma Michaels), but there are many more and the voice actors are all great. Between the screens, and there are a lot of load screens, told Jackie his life and death of Jenny, which offers a number of humorous anecdotes, quotable. These are the first batch of screens that actually drew me from the burden of time.

Despite the age-old Mafia Tropics, The Darkness takes the themes explored in The Crow and Spawn and amps them up to eleven, without ever losing focus on sacrifice, violence and even love. I was not entirely convinced that the salvation of the soul, Jackie was feasible (I deserve the anti-hero from the game rating), but the concept of redemption with a breath of fresh air to the first-person shooter genre.

  5. I have the feeling that the darkness takes about another 6 months of play testing and bug fixing. This game is from the Development Studio that the excellent Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay made, so I know they have the potential to do much better. The idea of gameplay, graphics and story are really good, but anything was bad or not complete. You spend the first part of the game hungry for ammo, but you must shoot from the many, many light sources in the game. Early on, you can meet an eel-like dark tentacles stealth kills and environmental puzzles to solve simple yet all too often does the darn eel as a bus control, refuses to bite an enemy and disoriented by climbing a sheer rock. destroy the main reason for the light sources in the game, is because the light drains your Darkness power, but you have no way of knowing how much power you regenerate Darkness at a given time (even for your health) and you will have often have Your forces unexpectedly drained at the worst times. Another big mistake is made with the targeting system and poor detection. There are many disorders where you are clearly an enemy strike source or even recognize the game is not really the hit. There is also a problem with your goal to catch light sources – there are many in the game and that makes it even more difficult to register a hit on an enemy when your crosshair keeps moving at a nearby light. Later, you get a power that will help you extinguish lights, but it is also a hit or miss affair. It is hard like a dangerous, killer obsessed, if you feel not even a light knock out with striking tentacles. There are also many situations in the game, where you been unexpectedly with no feedback, so you know what you did wrong, you say will be killed if you damage an enemy, or with an indication of what you offer, should does. Overall this is a game with a nice story and graphics if you can get up past the frustration and lack of fun in the gameplay. I give this game a credit card, at least, was that I was motivated to suffer through the noise to end the story. One thing that strikes me as strange is that the main character never shows a surprise or shock about being possessed? He hardly recognizes this significant development.
